New Orleans-based Southeast Restaurant Group buys local Taco Bells, plans to add more

Southeast Restaurant Group, a New Orleans-based business that owns and operates eateries across the South, has purchased eight Taco Bell restaurants in New Orleans, Covington, Mandeville and Slidell.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction adds a fast-food component to the company’s portfolio.
“The opportunity to become a part of the Taco Bell franchise system is rare and we are excited to blend in our expertise to grow the brand in and around our home here in New Orleans,” said Elie Khoury, president and CEO of KFK Group, parent company of SRG.
The 200 team members employed at the eight restaurants will join over 2,000 currently employed by KFK Group and SRG across its multiple lines of business, according to a news release.
SRG also plans to develop new locations in the New Orleans area over the next six years.
Founded in 1999, SRG currently operates 28 restaurants in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.
The company plans to open 15 Newk’s locations in south Louisiana and Houston, making the restaurant SRG’s largest franchisee.
The Jackson, Mississippi-based casual restaurant serves sandwiches, salads, soups and pizzas.
